Castrol Aircol SN air compressor lubricants are diester based synthetic lubricants with excellent oxidation resistance and low carbon-forming tendency.
Castrol BioStat environmentally acceptable lubricants are specifically designed to replace conventional lubricants in the stern tube bearings and thruster gearboxes of ships. Small quantities of lubricant can be discharged into the marine environment in the course of normal operation of vessels, but the cumulative amount for all vessels is very large. Larger quantities of oil may be released under fault conditions. Castrol BioStat lubricants are formulated from synthetic ester base oils which are selected to give a wide operating temperature range and long service life. Castrol BioStat lubricants have been tested and registered according to OSPAR (Oslo and Paris Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic) requirements and therefore meet the definition of an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL) under the US Vessel General Permit for Discharges Incidental to the Normal Operation of Vessels (VGP) 2013.
Castrol BioTrans has been developed as a range of drop-in replacements for conventional gear oils in order to minimise the environmental impact of the lubricant should it leak or spill into the sea. Deck equipment like cranes and winches and drill floor systems like rotary tables reply upon gearboxes for power transmission and many are situated in exposed positions where any leakage may make its way into the sea. The carefully selected base oils of Castrol BioTrans gear oils provide high levels of biodegradability in the marine environment, minimising the persistence of the product in the sea. Castrol BioTrans is miscible with conventional mineral oil-based gear oils. When changing from mineral oil based products to Castrol BioTrans, the system should be drained to ensure that the mineral oil content of the refilled system is less than 5%. This is necessary to ensure that the maximum environmental benefit is achieved.
Castrol CDX 30 is a premium alkaline system lubricant suitable for use in the crankcase of low speed marine crosshead engines.
Castrol Cyltech 40SX is a 40 BN high detergent, premium marine diesel engine cylinder lubricant for two-stroke crosshead engines running on low-sulphur fuels.
Castrol Cyltech 70 is a marine diesel engine cylinder lubricant developed to provide good performance at the higher temperatures and pressures found in modern engines.
Enduron MT is an SAE 10W-40 diesel engine lubricant formulated using unique technology
Castrol HLX is a Super High Performance Diesel (SHPD) lubricant, specially formulated to meet the latest performance requirements of marine monograde lubricant specifications. This allows extended drain periods to effectively compete with performance normally associated with synthetic oils. HLX is available in both SAE 30 and 40 viscosity grades.
Castrol MHP 153 and 154 are high performance lubricants specifically developed for use in modern highly rated marine and power generation four-stroke engines operating on distillate fuels.
Castrol Molub-Alloy™ 936 SF Heavy A is a uniquely compounded solvent free open gear lubricant developed specifically for use on heavy duty equipment in the extremes of environments. It is compounded to give maximum protection whilst minimizing potential pollutants to the environment. A highly refined, viscous, paraffinic mineral oil is the foundation of a blended base fluid with excellent natural chemical and thermal stability. A proprietary blend of Molub-Alloy lubricating solids is included to promote anti-wear and load carrying properties beyond those of conventional lubricants. These lubricating solids work synergistically with chemical anti-wear and extreme pressure (EP) additives to reduce contact temperatures while providing excellent anti-weld protection under extreme pressure and shock loading. The structural integrity and strength of the lubricating film is particularly valuable in the critical process of seating new gears because of the natural occurrence of high spots (asperities) in newly machined surfaces. The lubricating film must separate the mating surfaces sufficiently to cushion the effect of the impact of asperities, and minimize initial pitting which could lead to progressive and destructive pitting later.
RLX Super 40 is a 5th Generation (LMOA), zinc and chlorine free engine crankcase lubricant specifically designed for the lubrication of diesel propulsion, diesel electric and stationary power generation installations, where a zinc free lubricant is specified.
Castrol TLX Plus is a range of high performance lubricants incorporating an advanced additive technology formulated to overcome the adverse conditions seen in engines with low oil consumption and operating with varying heavy fuel qualities
